About

realize your potentialSelf help is a pretty funny term really. It means that to improve yourself you need to help yourself first.

Self Help For Me was originally started by Garry Robbins, and has grown to include several regular contributors, including posts from our regular readers.

So the team at Self Help For Me has spent countless thousands of dollars on various Self Help products (some good, some not so good) in order to help better realize our potential (Yep kinda Zen really). To be honest a lot of it sucked, some of it was great. So we decided to get together to create a product of our own specifically designed for the average person looking for that little bit of extra help.

Our goal at Self Help for Me is to create a one stop shop for self help advice and products that could provide real solutions designed to help you make the most out of life.

In addition to articles and advice on topics such as health, nutrition, motivation and finance, as well as videos and other cool free stuff. Every single product mentioned on this site have been road tested, reviewed and rated by people just like YOU. People that are just wanting to find that little bit of extra help to improve their current quality of life.

Don’t get us wrong either, Self help products are not just for so-called new age hippies, they’re for real people from every walk of life who are looking to be the best they can be.
Its a lot like trying to climb Mount Everest on your own; sure there’s a chance you could make it on your own, but if you have the help of a team, guides, planning, support, it makes the task so much easier.

We hope you enjoy the site and find it informative and inspirational and we really want to hear your thoughts, feedback or experiences so please feel free to contact us with any ideas or suggestions you might have to help me to improve the quality of your self help experience.

Garry Robbins – Editor in Charge

After spending years suffering from mental and physical abuse growing up, followed by years of depression and soul destroying self-doubt I took stock of my life and left a 12 hour a day, well-paying job and a 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom mansion to travel the world, study Buddhist teachings and do volunteer work in Australia and Africa. I also studied counseling, life coaching and familiarized myself with many self help products.

On returning from this journey I decided that my life would be committed to helping others. After a few more years of balancing life to an even happier state it was time to broaden the horizons again and so selfhelpforme.com was born. The intention was to have a site where people can go and find all types of products, tips, ideas, inspiration, good news stories and to share their own stories to help them on their own path to freedom and happiness. I hope this is what I have achieved.

Darren Boland – Occasional Finance writer

Finance is my gig, I have made and lost two fortunes in the past, so I have a pretty good idea what it takes to pick yourself up of the ground and start to rebuild yourself financially. I love helping people find their feet and take charge of their personal finance.

I also have a little blog called Ways to increase income.com, which is a nice little side hobby I play with.

Steven Buchanan – Fitness Nut and occasional blogger

Hi, to get this out of the way upfront originally I am from New Zealand, (Yes I’m a Kiwi). When I was young, I was obsessed with sport, I played anything I could including Cricket, Rugby League, Union, Boxing, achieving representative level in most of the age groups I played in. Back in 2008, I had a Pallet dropped on my foot, crushing it. After 12 months not working, I simply grew fat and lazy, I drank excessively, and ate as much bad food as I could find. After 12 months not working, I weighed over 116KGs and my health was suffering badly.

So as 2009 rolled past, I took stock of my life, started to exercise and got myself back to a reasonable weight. I decided to purse my passion for PERSONAL TRAINING, and being able to help others achieve their goals.

So I went and completed my PERSONAL TRAINING qualifications, located myself in Logan on Brisbane’s south side. I have since grown my business to include clients from, Carindale to Logan. And have worked with hundreds of clients, helping them realise their goals, lifestyle changes, injury rehabilitation, and sustainable weight loss.

I also own a fitness blog at Stevespersonaltraining.com, which has a stack of healthy recipes and fitness tip so stop by and say hi, you might even be a little inspired to start training.
