A Different View on Weight Loss

By – Garry Robbins

114kg down to 82kg, that has been my journey.

Why I say it is a different view on weight loss is that thru the whole process which is split into 2 parts, I never really focused on weight or weight loss.  My whole FOCUS was on HEALTH, physical and mental, which was the key to my long term weight loss.

Stage 1

Between the age 32 to 34, I had the desire to be healthy again. As a youngster I was fit, healthy, vibrant and into a mountain of sports, and I wanted that back. The process started one day in August 2003, when I woke up and thought, holy shit I look and feel terrible.  It had taken less then years of over eating constantly, eating rubbish constantly and drinking to excess to make me feel so bloody terrible, and when I say terrible I really mean terrible.  Here I was at 32, a time when I should have been in the prime of my life, looking down the barrel of a shortened life span. I was already struggling with a painfull ulcer, ridiculously high cholesterol and serious shortness of breath after the slightest bit of effort. It was time to do something different. Read More

Great tasting water

With my Pressure cooker up for show, I decide to show everyone what I actually use in my Kitchen for Health and Nutrition. I enjoy great-tasting filtered water, this water filter, reduces cholorine, pesticides, lead, copper, limescale and impurities and leaves in fluroide.

It is ideal for the bench top or fridge shelf. It is the economical alternative to bottled water, also remember, you can always fill up a water bottle and take it with you.

And Remember we should all try to drink approximately 2 lts of clean water per day.

Cooking with pressure

The whole theme of this site, is Self Help, Now that can mean many different things to many different people. My own biggest problem is trying to find utilise my time in each day, to achieve the most I possibly can. We all know I love outsourcing, I also love Short cuts.

I recently purchased a pressure cooker, it cooks food quicky and locks in the flavour, 3 times faster then conventional cooking method. Utilising a pressure cooked can drasticaly save time in the kitchen, which means spending more time with family and friends, or doing things you love.

Prices range from $80 – $200 ish, depending on where you get one.  Also with Christmas around the corner , they make great presents,

Try it, I guarentee you will love it.

The Paleo Diet – Is it really worth it ??

There are misconceptions and unproven facts about what’s healthy or not that circulate in the paleo diet community and that lead people to mistakes, confusion or frustration when it comes to eating the healthiest diet possible.

The quasi-omnipresence of some of those myths and misconceptions has become so strong that some bloggers now feel bad about being associated with the paleo diet community and prefer being on the side of organizations such as the Weston A. Price foundation, who gets things right at places where some early paleo authors are wrong.Paleo Cookbooks - Recipes for the Paleo Diet

Other authors, like Paul and Shou-Ching Jaminet from the Perfect Health Diet, have decided to take the best science and facts about healthy eating and created their own spin of a diet adapted to our species, good health and longevity. Read More

Benefits of Organic Food

Organic foodThe popularity and adoption of organic food throughout the world has increased dramatically over recent years. The term organic refers to how agricultural crops are grown and processed. In order to label any product as organic certain requirements must be met by the farmer or producer. Organic crops must be grown in good, clean soil, be free of genetic modification and must be planted separate from conventional crops. Farmers cannot use bio-engineered genes, synthetic pesticides or petroleum based fertilizers. Organic livestock, meanwhile, must be allowed outdoor access and be provided with certified organic feed. They also cannot be given growth hormones or antibiotics. Read More
